May round-up

We’ve reached the end of another busy month so we’re taking a moment to reflect on the comings and goings here at Lime Heating.

A temporary goodbye to Emma and welcoming Liam to the team.

Emma signed off earlier this month to begin her maternity leave and we welcomed Liam on board. With previous experience in another plumbing business, he has hit the ground running and fit right in to the team. He has picked up the bookings software and systems quickly and is already helping customers with their enquiries. Like Emma, his focus will be on bookings, alongside general administrative support. Good luck to Emma and welcome Liam!

Renewing our Baxi boiler installer accreditation

To stay ahead in our industry we know the importance of keeping up-to-date with the latest best practices and products. We sent two of our experienced Gas Safe registered engineers, Ross and Steve, to a Baxi training day in Warwick. They learned some great techniques, including a handy way to clean the internals of combi boiler heat exchangers. This training also means we maintain our Baxi accreditation. As you will easily see from a quick glance at our social media, Baxi boilers are amongst our favourite to install, thanks to great quality, serviceability and excellent warranty options.

Helping our sister company, Lime Electrical

While Lime Electrical has already been running for over a year, Max and the team have been so busy with work that they’re only just at the point of launching a new website. Having been through it all ourselves, we’re sharing the knowledge and helping get the new site set up, ready to go live next month.

A May heatwave like no other

The hottest May temperatures on record has had plenty of people thinking about air conditioning early this year! We have been ramping up preparations ahead of what would normally be the summer rush. Clearly demand for this service is on the increase with temperatures like these so early in the year. While air-con was once considered a luxury for the minimal amount of time it was really needed in this country, as yearly averages increase, more and more homes are going to need cooling capabilities to be tolerable during the warmer months.

Project of the month: boiler installation in a flooded property in Bradwell, Milton Keynes

There are many reasons people chose to switch to a combi boiler, For this customer, it was one very specific reason. At the beginning of the year, the customer received a call whilst on holiday. Their neighbour was ringing to say that there was water coming out of their front door. It turned out that a fitting in the loft had failed (probably due to freezing over), causing a catastrophic leak from the header tank. With no-one in the property to do anything to stop it, the flood damaged or destroying almost everything in the house. Understandably, the customer’s confidence in the pipework in his home has been severely shaken and he doesn’t want the risk of a repeated flood. As a combi boiler heats on demand and stores no water, this is the perfect solution.

  • Supply and install Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000+ combi boiler with horizontal flue
  • Decommission and remove hot water cylinder
  • Decommission tanks in the loft
  • Upgrade gas supply to new boiler location
  • Supply and install basic boiler controls
  • Supply and install system magnetic filter, inline scale reducer and shock arrestor
  • Mains flush the heating system
  • Add corrosion preventing inhibitor
  • Register the boiler with manufacturer, Gas Safe and Building Control
